I did not know Charlie Kirk, but I am deeply grieved by the violent censorship of his voice and the mockery that comes on the heels of his death. For years we’ve allowed people who do not have our best interests at heart to tear at the fabric of what our country stands for. Charlie wasn’t willing to sit idly by.

The United States is founded on Judeo-Christian values. Our failure to live by the commandments our founding fathers adopted has profound consequences. Those consequences are still happening to you and me whether we like it or not, agree with them or not, because of promises our forefathers made to God. The farther we get from our true North, the more corrupt our leaders are, the more chaos erupts, and the more despairing our citizens become.

If you think we haven’t been living under a curse in America, I’d like to highlight an ancient and often ignored text and show you what it looks like in the 21st century.

The Torah portion for September 13, is Ki Tavo. It’s worth your time to read Debarim 26-29:8, but to save time, I’ll highlight excerpts from chapter 28. In that portion, Moshe puts half the tribes of Israel on Mount G’rizim to pronounce the blessings that will be enjoyed by the followers of The Almighty’s mandates. On Mount Ebal, the remaining six tribes pronounce the curses that will come upon those who do not. This is where it get interesting.

Debarim 28:15  “But if you refuse to pay attention to what Adonai your God says, and do not observe and obey all his mitzvot and regulations which I am giving you today, then all the following curses will be yours in abundance: A curse on you in the city, and a curse on you in the countryside. Here’s How Living in a City Can Mess with Your Mental HealthYour physical health might get affected too. “A curse on your grain-basket and kneading-bowl.“…12 wheat-based products, including five samples of dried pasta and seven samples of cereal. Glyphosate was detected in all of the wheat-based foods. Pasta samples contained glyphosate at levels ranging from 60 to 150 parts per billion.

“A curse on the fruit of your body,” Around 1.9 million babies, or one every 17 seconds, were stillborn in 2023 …In 1995, the stillbirth rate in the United States was approximately 6.1 per 1,000 births.

“…the fruit of your land and the young of your cattle and flocks.” Farmers face losses and economic struggles in 2024

“A curse on you when you come in,” According to data from the National Safety Council, the home accident death rate (per 100,000 population) has steadily increased over time.

“and a curse on you when you go out.”…traffic fatalities for 2024 shows an estimated 39,345 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes…

“Adonai will send on you curses, disasters and frustration in everything you set out to do, until you are destroyed and quickly perish, because of your evil actions in abandoning me.”  From 1980 to 2024, the US averaged 9 events per year, while the annual average for the most recent 5 years is 23.

“Adonai will bring on you a plague that will stay with you until he has exterminated you from the land you are entering in order to take possession of it. …the number of deaths from COVID-19 was over 6.86 million. The United States is the country with the highest number of confirmed cases and deaths.

“Adonai will strike you down with wasting diseases, In 2025, 2,041,910 new cancer cases and 618,120 cancer deaths are projected to occur in the United States… US Cancer Statistics provide data on more than 39 million new cancer cases and deaths.

“…fever,…” Flu cases surge to highest levels in 15 years, CDC says

“…inflammation, fiery heat, drought, blasting winds and mildew; and they will pursue you until you perish.” Inflammation: The Cause of All Diseases…The prevalence of diseases associated with chronic inflammation is anticipated to increase persistently for the next 30 years in the United States.

“The sky over your head will be brass and the earth under you iron. Adonai will turn the rain your land needs into powder and dust that will fall on you from the sky until you are destroyed.”  As of September 9, 2025, 30.11% of the U.S. and Puerto Rico and 35.90% of the lower 48 states are in drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. … USA.gov.

“Adonai your God will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you will advance on them one way and flee before them seven. You will become an object of horror to every kingdom on earth. Your carcasses will become food for all the birds in the air and the wild animals, and there will be no one to scare them away. Adonai will strike you down with the boils that broke out on the Egyptians, tumors, skin lesions and itching, all incurable. 

“Adonai will strike you with insanity, blindness and utter confusion.” Mental Illness – National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) One in six U.S. adults lives with a mental illness (43.4 million in 2015). Mental illnesses include many different conditions that vary in degree of severity, ranging from mild to moderate to severe… (59.3 million in 2022).

“You will grope about at noon like a blind person groping in the dark, unable to find your way.” May 2, 2025 · Blindness is on the rise in the U.S., with more than one million Americans diagnosed as of 2021, according to a study published in JAMA Ophthalmology

“All these curses will come on you, pursuing you and overtaking you until you are destroyed, because you didn’t pay attention to what Adonai your God said, observing his mitzvot and regulations that he gave you.”

This is by no means exhaustive. If you continue researching the curses, you’ll likely be as surprised as I was how far down the list the United States has fallen. And if these aren’t terrible enough for you, keep reading the book. A lack of obedience makes existing increasingly painful. These curses are already happening and will persist until our eyes are opened and we repent and turn back to YHVH.

Just to clarify, I am in no way suggesting that Charlie Kirk was cursed, I don’t have all the answers but I don’t believe he was. He seemed like the voice of reason, a truly caring person that wanted better for our country. A man of deep faith with a high regard for his Creator. Charlie’s assassination is a wakeup call to all of us. It’s a call to check our personal and collective moral compass.
