For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. ~ Jeremiah 29:11
On a blustery day at the end of March, I caught up with author, web designer, pastor and soul winner Jeremy Empie. He provided an interpreter because Jeremy is challenged by cerebral palsy, a disability which profoundly affects his ability to speak. Jeremy wasn’t about to let that stop him from enjoying a productive life, or keep him from telling his powerful story.
Jeremy began writing in 2007 when he set up his ministry. Typically starting his day with a cup of coffee, Jeremy gathers his thoughts then writes a paragraph or two about whatever the Lord lays on his heart. Jeremy has written It’s All In The Head, and When God Spoke to Me. He co-wrote The Soul Winners Devotional with Katie, his beloved wife of sixteen years.
Despite the daily challenges of his condition, Jeremy started and pastored a business church from 2017-2020, sharing the hope and insights he’s learned through faith and perseverance. His impactful encouragements bubble up from a place of deep faith, which resonates with his audience. Just recently, someone who once visited his church dropped off a letter. “When you had a guest speaker at the church, the message changed my life.”
Jeremy has traveled around the United States preaching the gospel and equipping Christians to share good news with the broken hearted since 203. Though Jeremy is in constant communication with God, sometimes he doesn’t understand what God is trying to say and sometimes doesn’t hear an immediate answer to prayer. Closing his church must have been one of those times. However, Jeremy amassed an impressive following on TikTok where he shares messages of encouragement and bible verses.
Though he isn’t writing as much these days, when he writes he admits to using a little AI. His most recently written book, When God Spoke to Me is still his favorite. It’s packed with insights that Jeremy learned while living with cerebral palsy.
In addition to writing books, Jeremy has been a website designer for over twenty-five years. With the advent of AI, which Jeremy sometimes uses, he looking for ways to pivot in a market that is at risk of being overtaken. To find out what Jeremy is up to now, follow him on these platforms:
